Counselling through life's transitions.
Approaches
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)
Cognitive-behavioural therapy, or CBT, is a type of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a wide range of issues. CBT involves identifying negative or unhelpful thought patterns and learning how to replace those thoughts with ones that better support mental health.
EVIDENCED-BASED PRACTICE
Using an evidenced-based practice means that we are committed to providing therapy that has shown to be effective in peer-reviewed scientific research. Our goal is to incorporate best available research with clinical experience and client preference.
SOLUTION-FOCUSED
Solution-focused therapy aims to focus on the client's present concerns and explore solutions, instead of dwelling on past experiences. Solution-focused therapy is generally helpful for a single, less complicated problem, rather than for trauma or long-term mental health issues.
TRAUMA-INFORMED
PLAY THERAPY
Trauma-informed care aims to help clients find purpose and meaning in their lives while honouring how their experiences have affected them. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment and minimizing the risk of re-traumatization.
Play therapy allows children to process experiences and emotions in a safe way through play. It also allows the therapist to gain insight into the child's behaviours and mental health and inform the parent of strategies and practices to support their child.
STRENGTHS-BASED
Strengths-based therapy is a type of positive psychotherapy that focuses on the client's resourcefulness and internal strengths. It's a form of talk therapy where the client is the storyteller, and explores your resilience, independence, and wellbeing.
